Hoekstra files

Rep. Pete Hoekstra has filed his paperwork to run for Governor of Michigan.

Website is up.

I don't know who else is running in the primary but Hoekstra has to be the big dog in this race. The guy might have been McCain's veep pick if he had been constitutionally eligible.

Regime change is coming to Michigan, and not a moment too soon.

C'mon, man. What's wrong with Kwame Kilpatrick and the gang?

Hey Joe - unrelated- but would be interested in your thoughts on the NY special election...

First, I'm in favor of a fight to the death for all political races within .5% rather than have these damned recounts and challenges.

Rumors are that Tedisco's staff was incompetent and kicked out nrcc and rnc people. I don't have any way of verifying that, but that's the rumor. I know if I was a local staffer and a bunch of guys who just screwed the pooch on the last election came in and said "UR DOIN IT RONG" I might be perturbed.

If my impressions of the candidates are correct (Tedisco is a squishy Repub, Murphy is pretty far left), then it's a sad statement about how the R's ran the race that it was even close.

But I haven't really followed the race that closely. In the long run it doesn't matter what happens in one house district in NY. It only had attention because it was "special", which I'm interpreting to mean "retarded" rather than "unscheduled".

Hoekstra has a snowballs's chance in Hell of winning a state wide election in Michigan...way to conservative and wingnutty, and easily linked (by voting record)to all the Georgie boy failed policies.

Cox is the man. Mark my words he will be the next governor.
