They said it not us

I'm glad this was in the NY Times, otherwise it would be raaaaciiiist.
“We didn’t really know what we were buying,” said Marc Gott, a former director in Fannie’s loan servicing department. “This system was designed for plain vanilla loans, and we were trying to push chocolate sundaes through the gears.
But it was a quote in the Paper of Record, so it's all good.

I don't consider the Times liberal, so does that make it not okay?

Preface: Obama's pissing me off, too.

If McCain says "my friends" one more time, I'm going to walk over and punch him in the face.

NYT not liberal? yikes.

To be fair, it was the Times quoting somebody else. I'm more shocked at the quote than anything else.

"My friends" is a universally detested McCain quirk.

It is? I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I've been vigorously avoiding all debates and campaign speeches from both parties but was stuck in a restaurant last night where they inexplicably decided to play the debate on their tv's. Less than 10 minutes later, McCain had already said 'my friends' about 8 times...and it just got worse from there.

Sorry, I could riff on this for a while. It's not simply the repetition... Ugh, stopping now.

I texted a friend that I was so glad I wasn't playing a debate drinking game because i'd have been passed ou on the floor just from the "my friends" shots.

Also cringe-worthy: hockey mom, Joe six pack, maverick (despite what I believe is the accuracy of the maverick label), the Putin/"KGB in his eyes" routine.

But "my friends" takes the cake. I've been sick of that one since the primaries. "My friends" is to McCain what "uh...." is to Obama.

They had the debate on in a restaurant? I can think of few things less appetizing.

"uhhh" used to get to me, but at least Obama's cut back. Someone compiled a 20 second montage of McCain saying "my friend"....from last night's debate alone.
