Chavez & Sheehan, sittin' in a tree

Hugo Chavez and Cindy Sheehan both made the news again recently.

Chavez continues to show his true colors by pulling the plug on an opposition TV station. Chavez remarked, "No media outlet will be tolerated here that is at the service of coup-ism, against the people, against the nation, against national independence, against the dignity of the republic," according to AP reporting. Been talking to Putin again, eh?

This would be the same Chavez whom Cindy Sheehan previously defended on MSNBC's Hardball when she said, "Hugo Chavez is not a dictator like you introduced him. He's been democratically elected eight times." I'm not sure where Cindy gets her figure of eight elections, but nobody ever accused Cindy of having all her facts straight.

Yes, anybody can see that Venezuela has a thriving democracy. Though perhaps not the sort of democracy where the police would politely ask you to get out of the middle of the road before arresting you, as they did to Cindy Sheehan on December 28th. Law enforcement says Sheehan
told them, "if you want us to get out of the road, you're going to have to arrest us." She was subsequently arrested. Again.

I wonder how well Cindy Sheehan would have fared if she lived under Chavez. Well, not really - we don't have to wonder.
